Most dishwashers have the thermal fuse located in the control panel area. To determine if the thermal fuse is bad, remove the control panel, locate the fuse, and test it for continuity
Line Fuse Some models of electronic controlled dishwashers use a thermal fuse to protest the control board. The thermal fuse is normally located on the top side of the circuit board assembly with two wires attached to it.
Line Fuse Some appliances, such as lamps, televisions, computers, fridges and freezers generally require a 3 amp fuse. However washing machines, dishwashers, microwaves, kettles, toasters and irons usually require 13 amp fuses.
Touch the left multimeter lead to the left side of the thermal fuse; touch the right multimeter lead to the right side of the fuse. Keep an eye on the multimeter needle; a needle that fails to move indicates a blown thermal fuse.
If the dishwasher won’t do anything at all, the problem could be the power supply. Check the circuit breaker. If it has tripped, flip the switch to the “off” position and then turn it back on. If the circuit has not tripped, check to ensure that the appliance is properly plugged into its wall outlet.
Can you reset your dishwasher? Yes, you can reset your dishwasher by pressing the Start/Reset button on the appliance and waiting a few minutes. If your dishwasher still doesn’t start, you may need to reboot the entire system by turning off power to the appliance at the house circuit breaker or fuse box.
